Frequently asked questions
(Okay, nobody asked me any of these questions, but I figured someone might've asked sooner or later ;o)
"I use two sound cards with Yiff DJ and their audio is out of sync!"
A few things you should take into account:
- The dual sound card support of Yiff DJ is in a test-only stage at the moment. I don't use the feature myself.
- It is quite normal for the cards to get out of sync as their clocks vary slightly in speed. If both cards are the same model, there should in theory not be much of syncing problems, but in practice the clock speeds may still vary a bit. Also the drivers matter.
- It may be possible to use the other sound card to provide clock for the other card. Google for info on how this can be done (I have not done this myself so I'm not sure).
- Modern sound cards usually have multiple outputs, and are often better than old cards in terms of sound quality anyway (well, generally speaking). Consider using such a card instead of two separate ones; there will be no syncing problems with this method.
"I would really like this n33t l33t feature implemented."
You can always ask, but I won't promise anything. I'm also trying to keep the program relatively lightweight; partly out of necessity as my fastest PC is 350 MHz in speed (and I started coding this on a P200), partly because if you want something with all the bells and whistles, there already are a number of other free alternatives.
"Can you give me the source code for Yiff DJ?"
Probably not, unless you're willing to work with me on the program. Also, the code is such spaghetti that I'd be embarrassed to show it around. When I quit coding the program for reason or another, I will make the sources public so that other, better coders may use it for whatever purpose they want.
"OK, but can you at least tell me how you coded [feature]?"
Badly? :oP I can help you if you're tried to figure it out in other ways before asking me; I'm getting a little annoyed by the simple programming questions that don't really have much to do with Yiff DJ specifically.
"Why is Yiff DJ free?"
Because I want it to be. I might put a PayPal or similar system up sometime but I won't make paying for the program mandatory.
"Yiff DJ? What the hell kind of name is that?!"
A stupid name. I didn't want another generic c00l ultra cyber haxor name but I couldn't think of anything nice. And as I've used the word "yiff" in my software titles before, I figured I'd continue the tradition. :o|
"The help file is outdated and generally sucks!"
If someone would like to help me write a proper manual, please contact me.

Hints and tips:
- Right mouse button on the Bend -/+ buttons bends more than the left button.
- Mouse buttons over the <> button in the crossfader make the fader jump to the corresponding position.
- Try right-clicking on the area with the Play/Stop buttons. There's a popup menu with which you can control some of the player parameters on the fly.
- The < buttons next to the EQ sliders will jump the slider next to it to either minimum (left button) or middle position (middle button). Right button will return the slider where it was originally.
- You can set the default starting point (position memory slot #0) for a song (it's in the Play button's popup menu). This setting will be saved with the song.
